How to choose the right eyebrow pencil color

Many makeup lovers, when trying to draw eyebrows, most often resort to such a tool as an eyebrow pencil. Convenience and ease of use, a wide color and price palette – isn't it ideal? No way: tone to the left, tone to the right – and an incorrectly chosen color crosses out all the mentioned qualities at once. Harmony in makeup is achieved only when all its elements are combined. Hence the conclusion: when choosing the color of an eyebrow pencil, you need to look at the color of your hair. And not only the color, but also the undertone, warm or cold. Before applying color to the eyebrows, they need to be corrected, and it is advisable to do this in a salon, for example, a brow bar shopping center. It is worth considering that the current hair color, not the natural one, should serve as a guide. A light pencil is unlikely to suit a natural blonde if she suddenly dyed her hair black. No need for black! This color will only suit those with black or very dark hair. For everyone else, such a pencil will spoil the whole appearance. Many people choose black because it makes their eyebrows stand out from the rest of their face. And yes, it looks impressive, but is the effect good?

Dark hair – light pencil, and vice versa

If the fatal mistake with black is not made, the choice becomes easier.

  • Brunettes with dark skin can safely buy a black pencil, while those with light skin can buy its darkest shades, but not a pure color.
  • Those with dark, but no longer black hair, should opt for dark brown in all its manifestations. Deep gray will also look good.
  • Red eyebrows will be successfully emphasized by a pencil of the same color, preferably with a warm undertone. Shades of golden brown, terracotta, chestnut with a red tint will also suit. If your skin is dark, you can try pure brown.
  • Blondes can use either a light brown or grey pencil, again with a warm undertone.
  • Lucky ones with light hair can choose a color a couple of tones darker, but you shouldn't get too carried away. A couple of tones of difference will be enough to achieve the desired result. As with fair-haired women, shades of gray are recommended for blondes.
  • For gray hair, it is better to use a gray pencil or its shades.
  • If your eyebrows are completely colorless, a light pencil will help correct the situation.

The difference in hair and eyebrow tones is welcomed if it does not exceed two or three tones. Owners of dark hair should give preference to pencils with a lighter lead, and accordingly, light hair will emphasize darker eyebrows. To achieve the ideal eyebrow color, you can also mix several shades. Apply a darker color to the ends, and a lighter color to the base. When using this technique, you need to shade the boundaries well.
