When Will Season 4 Premiere?
Have no fear, season 4 is on the way. The fourth season of the hit Paramount Network was announced before season 3 even premiered in June 2020. Given that filming is still underway, Yellowstone season 4 likely won’t premiere until summer 2021. The past three seasons have premiered in the summers of 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Has Season 4 Been Filmed?
Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan told our sister site Deadline in July 2020 that production was starting in August. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, production is a little different this time around because of the health and safety protocols. “I’m fortunate that this show shoots on a ranch in Montana. We’re going to shoot exclusively there this year, or in and around it,” Taylor told Deadline.

Cole Hauser, who plays Rip, finished filming season 4 on Nov. 14. He revealed the development on Instagram. “Finished Yellowstone S4 yesterday. Landed in #puertorico last night. This is my new movie #panama. Inspired by true events in 1989. Pics to come!” he captioned his photo.
Who’s Coming Back?
In addition to Cole, Yellowstone cast members Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille, Gil Birmingham, Brecken Merrill, Gil Birmingham, Ian Bohen, Denim Richards, and Forrie J. Smith are expected to return for season 4. Paramount Network has not announced any key departures, but the season 3 finale did leave a number of characters in jeopardy.

As for if season 3 newcomers Josh Holloway, Karen Pittman, John Emmet Tracey, Q’orianka Kilcher, and Jennifer Landon will return for the fourth season, time will tell! However, we have a feeling that Roarke might be back at some point or another!
Are Beth & Kayce Alive?
Season 3 ended with the majority of the Dutton family in danger. A bomb detonated in Beth’s office and caused a massive explosion. Beth was seen after the explosion, which led many fans to believe she could have died. While her fate is still up in the air, Kelly did drop a hint that Beth may have survived.

In Oct. 2020, Kelly posted an Instagram photo of horses on a ranch. “Fierceness and gentleness all in one .. nature can teach us everything we need to know if we pay attention. Taken yesterday evening by husband,” she wrote.

Kayce was also in the line of fire when a gunman showed up at his office and started shooting. The last time we saw Kayce, he had pulled out his gun and was barricaded against his desk.
To top it all off, John had stopped on the side of the road to help a woman and her son with their car. A van pulled up and opened fire on John. The Dutton patriarch managed to initially survive getting shot, with his phone stopping a bullet that would have killed him. However, he was left bleeding out on the side of the road.
Will There Be A Season 5?
Season 5 hasn’t been officially confirmed — yet. However, Yellowstone is a massive TV hit. The season 3 finale was the most-watched original telecast on basic cable since Nov. 2018 with 10.7 million total views.

There’s a lot more story to be told with the Duttons, so a season 5 is a strong possibility. Taylor told Deadline that he doesn’t have a set season count in mind, but doesn’t see the show having an SVU trajectory. “I know how the series ends, and you have to move in a straight line toward that end,” he said. “You can’t walk in circles, waiting to get there, because the show will stagnate. So, you have to keep moving forward, and there have to be consequences in the world, and there has to be an evolution toward a conclusion.” When asked if that could mean another two seasons ahead, he said, “It could.”
