Taylor Swift has released her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, her first major project since the completion of her Eras tour, BBC reports.
“It's a triumph. A combination of captivating songwriting and brilliant production that easily surpasses the high bar Swift has set for herself,” the publication says.
The Life of a Showgirl contains 12 songs, which last 41 minutes. This is Taylor Swift's shortest album. Half of the new songs of the singer are dedicated to sincere and boundless love, the other – tells about the dark side of fame. Taylor Swift recorded them during the Eras tour.
“This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during a tour that was so joyful and vibrant,” the singer previously shared on the New Heights podcast.
The album begins with the song “The Fate of Ophelia”, in which Taylor Swift refers to the image of Ophelia from William Shakespeare's tragedy “Hamlet”.
The singer recorded her latest song, The Life of a Showgirl, with Sabrina Carpenter and dedicated it to the true price of fame.
This time, Taylor Swift was working with a new project not with Jack Antonoff (producer and co-writer of the previous album, Tortured Poets Department). For The Life of a Showgirl, the singer brought in Shellback and Max Martin. With them, she previously worked on the hits Shake It Off and I Knew You Were Trouble.
