Selena Gomez is in New York City and made it to Live With Kelly and Ryan amid the Upper West Side’s water main break flooding this morning that stalled big stretches of the city and was right by the studio.
During her interview, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest got Gomez to address that rumor she got stung by a jellyfish while on vacation in Hawaii (she didn’t) and how things went for her when she tried to go incognito in Paris.
It was one of the first times that Gomez has opened up publicly about what happens when she goes out in public and whether she can go about her day normally at all. “You know, the thing for me is that I don’t draw a lot of attention to myself so most of the time, it’s more like people are like, ‘I think that’s her?’” she started. “And then they kind of ignore it. So I like that I am able to keep low profile vibes but I did try to go incognito [in Paris] and yeah, it didn’t work. But I had a beret and then I had a jacket and then I had a scarf covering [my mouth].” Her friend shared a photo of Gomez’s disguise during Gomez’s Paris trip last month.
As for the Hawaii jellyfish story? Gomez did get stung on her New Year’s Eve vacation…but by a bee. “I’m so embarrassed,” she started. “Because it was a bee. No, I was just walking on the beach and there was a bee and then I got stung by a bee. And then everyone said it was a jellyfish, and I was like, well, that sounds cooler. Well, I just thought it sounds cooler if I got stung by a jellyfish as opposed to a bee. I don’t know.”
Gomez has since left the studio. She has so far worn three different looks during her day in the city. It’s not even 11 A.M. yet, so you know there will be more.
