Lindsay Lohan Wants to Be in a ‘Mean Girls’ Sequel – LiLo on Acting

Fresh off her judging chair on The Masked Singer Australia (where Miley Cyrus’ boyfriend Cody Simpson won as “the robot”), Lindsey Lohan announced her return to music with her new single “Back to Me” and upcoming album. But music isn’t the only thing she’s returning to: She told David Spade during a recent appearance on his talk show that while she’s returning to acting very soon in Frame, she’d love to revisit her most iconic role.

During the interview, Lohan said she always wanted to film a Mean Girls sequel and reprise her role as Cady Heron. “I think I was hanging on to [Mean Girls] for a really long idea,” she told Spade on Lights Out with David Spade. “I wanted to come back with a Mean Girls 2 with the same cast, work with Tina [Fey], and the whole crew again, and [Mean Girls director] Mark Waters. That was really what I wanted; I was excited to do that. But that’s all in their hands, really.”

Since debuting in 2004, Mean Girls has been adapted into a musical and opened on Broadway in March 2018. Fey, who wrote the original movie and musical, announced plans to move the Broadway musical version of Mean Girls to the big screen.

Acting aside, Lohan is currently in album mode and released her first single in 12 years “Back to Me” on April 3. She told David Spade that the song is about her early years in LA. “It’s been really exciting. I started working with a writer named Alma [Miettinen] and I liked her tracks, and I said, ‘Well this kind of reminds me of some of the stuff I went through in LA—I can relate to this,” she explained. “It’s fun and it’s upbeat but I can definitely relate to aspects of my life in the past.”
