When you’re a parent, grandparent, or caregiver of any children, you become very OK about getting wacky makeovers, where “subtle” is hardly the operative word. On Saturday, Eva Mendes posted a photo of the very colorful total-face makeover that her daughters, Esmeralda (5) and Amada (4) gave her.
“They’ve won ❤️,” she wrote below the photo of her very bright face.

Earlier this month, Mendes posted another, similar photo of her face. It looked like her daughters had turned her face into a coloring book then, too.

Mendes and Gosling have kept their home life fairly private over the years, but in a rare open moment, Mendes defended her husband’s parenting style on an Instagram post last month. After preparing for Amada’s fourth birthday celebrations, Mendes posted a selfie with the following caption: “Tired Mama. Stayed up laaate trying to make my baby’s 4th birthday extra special since she won’t see the family. Here’s to all you having a quarantine birthday …sending extra love. Here’s to all you tired mamas…sending extra love.”

When separate commenters jumped at the chance to tell Mendes that she had left out all the “tired dads” in her post, she responded kindly but firmly to a few.
“So when I say I’m a ‘tired mama’ and want to connect to other ‘tired mamas’ it’s not about excluding the fathers or other caregivers that do so much,” she wrote on one comment. “It’s just me connecting to other women but in no way does it de-value what papas do. And why I don’t talk about Ryan and all the wonderful things he does as a father is because I keep that part private.”
The couple has decided not to hire a nanny and does all the parenting themselves, a source told Us Weekly last month, about a month after pandemic lockdowns started around the country.
“They’re hands-on parents and don’t have any nannies,” the source said. “Being confined to their home with two small children is exhausting at times, especially without hired help.”
