Are Megan Markle and Prince Harry Attending Princess Diana Statue Party? – Rep Statement

Next Tuesday, Prince William will attend a party at Kensington Palace to honor his late mother Princess Diana and to thank the donors who contributed to the memorial statue of her that he and his brother Prince Harry unveiled this July. The Sun speculated that now that COVID-19 travel restrictions between the U.S. and U.K. have eased, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle could be among the guests there.

An insider claimed to the outlet, “No one knows what Harry’s decision is but there are rumblings that he may come with Meghan and their two children [Archie and Lilibet].”

The Telegraph got a definitive answer from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s rep on their attendance. No, Meghan and Harry aren’t flying to London next week. A spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed that Harry won’t be attending the party. Harry was last in the U.K. for the statue unveiling. He and Meghan have been at their Montecito, California, home for the most part otherwise. They spent their summer on parental leave following Lili’s birth in June.

Last month, Meghan and Harry did their first fall work trip, visiting New York City for the Global Citizen Live concert, where they appeared on stage to advocate for vaccine equity.

When Harry and William unveiled the statue in July, the brothers released a joint statement on the occasion. They said:

“Today, on what would have been our Mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character–qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better. Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy. Thank you to Ian Rank-Broadley, Pip Morrison and their teams for their outstanding work, to the friends and donors who helped make this happen, and to all those around the world who keep our mother’s memory alive.”
