With all eyes (and cameras) on celebrity skin during awards season, special emphasis is placed on day-of prep to lift, plump, and prime—before a drop of makeup is even used. For her part, celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern—who works with A-listers like Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway, and Maya Rudolph—has relied on luxury spa brand Natura Bissé for some 15 years to help bring out the stars’ glow.
“I turn to Natura Bissé time and time again because it’s always effective,” Stern tells BAZAAR.com. “It always improves the skin quality and texture, and it does so quickly.” And if you’re wondering why good skincare is so crucial for a makeup artist, we’ll let her explain. “The better quenched and stimulated the skin, the less makeup needs to be applied for a flawless complexion, [because] the more prepped the canvas, the better the color holds,” Stern says, adding that “[when] dead skin is exfoliated, pores tend to be tighter, and skin pH is balanced … all these things lend themselves to makeup lasting longer.”
