Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s wedding is on hold indefinitely, but once the coronavirus pandemic ends, J.Lo plans to have the lavish Italian ceremony she and A-Rod had originally planned for this summer, Us Weekly reports.
That ceremony, “it was all planned out and paid for,” the source said. “They obviously had to postpone it due to coronavirus, but J.Lo wants to marry A-Rod shortly after things go back to normal. She wants to marry him and celebrate their love in front of her family and close friends.”
Lopez confirmed to Ellen DeGeneres that her wedding plans were affected by the COVID-19. Most of Europe and the U.S. remain in quarantine to slow the spread of the virus.
The coronavirus crisis, it “did affect [our wedding plans] a little bit,” she said. “So, we will see what happens now. Honestly, I really don’t know what’s going to happen now as far as dates or anything like that. We’re just kind of in a holding pattern like the rest of the world. So, again, it’s something we’re just going to have to wait and see in a few months how this all pans out.”
Lopez has talked before about how she isn’t in any great rush to marry Rodriguez. The two got engaged last March.
Lopez told Oprah at the end of February that their relationship is what’s most important to her. “I said, ‘If we’re going to be together for the rest of our lives, what is the rush?,'” Lopez started. “If that’s what we’re really going to do, if we’re really going to be partners, if we’re really going to try to build something together that we both never had or never felt like we had, which is a family with a husband and a wife, and a mother and father, and we embrace all our children. We show them it’s something that we didn’t have.”
Lopez initially wanted to get married quickly, she admitted: “It’s so funny because when we first got engaged, I was like, ‘Oh, we’re going to get married in a couple of months.’ Like your old thinking comes right back, like all that hopeless romantic that made me get married three times.”
