This situation no longer ‘sucks.’ Selena Gomez is now backtracking on using that word after seeing Bella Hadid delete a photo that the singer commented on.
Both of The Weeknd’s exes have appeared to make amends — for real, this time. Selena Gomez, 27, thinks she spoke (or in this case, commented) too soon after voicing her hurt feelings in response to Bella Hadid, 22, wiping a photo from her Instagram, along with the friendly comment that Selena left under it. After an Instagram fan account shared a screenshot of an Elle article that recapped the Instagram drama on Nov. 18, Selena decided to jump in and set the record straight. “NO. I shouldn’t of spoken without knowing the truth. I’m sorry. Please don’t be hurtful. She is a wonderful person and it was all a misunderstanding,” Selena wrote, proving that she doesn’t have beef with Bella after all.
Clearly, Selena came to some sort of an understanding between now and Nov. 16, when Bella first deleted her photo. The model shared a portrait from a photo shoot with Dior that Saturday, and Selena surprised everyone by leaving an especially friendly comment under the post: “Stunning 😍.” Bella took down the post soon after, a move that was interpreted as a snub by the aforementioned fan account. Selena seemed to agree, because she responded to the fan post by writing, “That sucks 😢.” Like Selena, the fan account also regretted bringing the situation to light, and shared an apology on Nov. 18.
Selena and Bella’s friendship is a work in progress. Selena refollowed the model on Instagram on Nov. 5, but that “follow” has yet to be reciprocated. As you recall, Bella hit the “Unfollow” button on Selena’s page soon after reports claimed the singer was dating Bella’s ex, The Weeknd, in Jan. 2017. The rumors proved to be true, because Selena and The Weeknd — whose real name is Abel Tesfaye — went on to enjoy a 10-month romance.
