Maren Morris Shades Donald Trump Over False Election Win Claims: ‘You Lost The Popular Vote Twice’

Donald Trump’s latest tweet about ‘voter fraud’ inspired Maren Morris to issue him a little reminder: he lost the popular vote in the 2020 election… and in 2016.

Maren Morris is fed up with having to hear Donald Trump whine about the 2020 election. The “All My Favorite People” singer roasted the president in a December 10 tweet after reading yet another one of his rants about how supposed voter fraud “illegally” stole the election out from under him (it didn’t). “How can you give an election to someone who lost the election by hundreds of thousands of legal votes in each of the swing states,” Trump tweeted. “How can a country be run by an illegitimate president?”

Note that Trump’s message was flagged as false by Twitter.  Maren had the perfect comeback: “You lost the popular vote twice, sooooooo.” She followed it up with a gif of a woman sipping tea. Ouch. Trump won the electoral vote in 2016, but trailed Hillary Clinton in the popular vote by 2.8 million. In 2020, the margin between himself and Joe Biden, who legitimately won the electoral vote, despite Trump’s claim, was even greater: over 7 million votes.

Biden has 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232, and yet the sitting president refuses to concede. It’s the same song he’s been singing since the election was finally called on November 7. Trump demanded recounts in some states, and demanding that votes stop being counted in others. So far, every lawsuit that he’s filed has been thrown out, and all recounts have shown the same thing: that Biden legally won the 2020 presidential election.

Maren’s just one of many celebrities who have dragged Trump amidst his incessant cries of foul play. And on December 9, the day before Maren posted her drag, Trump was branded #CryBabyTrump on Twitter for tweeting “RIGGED ELECTION” and “There is massive evidence of widespread fraud in the four states (plus) mentioned in the Texas suit. Just look at all of the tapes and affidavits!” Again, there is no evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election.
