FKA Twigs is getting major support from her man, Matt Healy, after coming forward with sexual battery and abuse allegations against Shia LaBeouf in a lawsuit.
Matt Healy couldn’t be more proud of his girlfriend, FKA Twigs. Two days after the singer filed a lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend, Shia LaBeouf, with claims of sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress, Matt took to Instagram to praise his love. He posted a stunning, smiling photo of FKA Twigs with the caption, “Legend, Icon, LOML [love of my life].” He also included several colorful emojis, including flowers, hearts, stars and rainbows.

FKA Twigs and Shia dated for about a year in 2018 and 2019. Her lawsuit references an alleged incident from the beginning of 2019, where she claims that Shia assaulted her during a road trip home from the desert. The 32-year-old accused Shia of allegedly threatening to crash the car that they were driving if she didn’t profess her love to him. The lawsuit alleges that Shia was mentally, physically and emotionally abusive to FKA Twigs, and she claims that she suffered “relentless abuse” throughout their relationship. This driving incident was just one of the many specific allegations that FKA Twigs made in her court documents.
In response to the lawsuit, Shia told The New York Times, via e-mail, “I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”

In a separate e-mail, he added that “many of these allegations are not true,” but admitted that he owed anyone speaking out against him “the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things [he has] done.” Shia also explained that he’s a “sober member of 12-step program,” who is “not cured of PTSD and alcoholism.” Still, he vowed that he’s “committed to doing what [he] needs to do to recover and [he] will be forever sorry to the people [he] may have hurt along the way.”
Meanwhile, FKA Twigs has been romantically linked to Matt Healy, singer of The 1975, since the beginning of 2020. They made their relationship Instagram official in February. FKA Twigs has received an outpouring of support since she filed her lawsuit. “Thank you everyone for your love and solidarity,” she wrote on Twitter on Dec. 13. She also added, “I hope that by sharing my experience I can truly help others feel like they are not alone and shed some light on how those who are worried about somebody they care about may be in an abusive relationship can help because I understand it can be confusing and hard to know what to do.”
