Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani, Justin Theroux & More Stars Celebrate Thanksgiving 2020 — Pics

Happy Thanksgiving! Though this year’s Turkey Day may be a bit different, some of the biggest stars – like Justin Theroux and Blake Shelton – celebrated Turkey Day with plenty of food, love, and gratitude.

It’s time to give thanks. Thanksgiving 2020 arrived on Nov. 26, and with it, some of your favorite celebrities gathered to express gratitude and love with those they hold dear. While the CDC has recommended against traveling and huge family gatherings – because the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging throughout the country – some stars still managed to have the best Turkey Day ever (or the best they’re going to get in 2020.)

Though COVID may make Thanksgiving – and the rest of the Winter Holidays – look a little different, the spirit behind the holidays remains intact. Families or quarantine couples can still make plenty of good food, binge watch every single Thanksgiving episode of Friends, or watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. So long as one stays safe, Turkey Day will still go on. Keep checking back here to see all the updates.

“What a year we’ve all had, but there is still plenty to be thankful for! Happy Thanksgiving y’all!!!” Blake Shelton captioned a shot of him with Gwen Stefani that he uploaded to his Instagram on Nov. 26. This year is the first Thanksgiving for Blake and Gwen since becoming engaged. Soon, they’ll be celebrating Turkey Day as man and wife.

“When I tell you I was so confused….” Amanda Kloots captioned the video she posted. Though she lost her husband, Nick Cordero, this year, she wouldn’t be celebrating this Thanksgiving alone. “I opened the door to my house, and Anna slid in holding Elvis- I thought I was looking at myself!!! I had to do a double take haha! Hooray for surprises! Hooray for the holidays! Hooray for family! Anna was able to safely fly back to be with us this Thanksgiving, and it is the best surprise ever!”

“Happy Thanksgiving!” Justin Theroux captioned the black-and-white photo of him with his dog, Kuma. Justin let everyone know that he wasn’t traveling to see his 81-year-old mother, Phyllis Grissim-Theroux, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. “We’re doing this one alone so the rest can be with loved ones. Miss you, mom. Be there soon.”

A week before the holiday, the Center for Disease Control issued a warning against traveling for Thanksgiving. In the face of skyrocketing infections, hospitalizations, and deaths, the CDC recommended against travel for Thanksgiving. For those who decide to travel, the CDC recommended doing it as safely as possible by wearing a mask, keeping six feet apart, and wash hands often with soap and water. “The safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year is at home with the people in your household,” said the CDC’s Dr. Erin Sauber-Schatz, per The New York Times.

The warning wasn’t against the act of traveling. “This is a bad time to be swapping air with people that are not immediate household members,” said Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota and a member of President-Elect Joe Biden’s  Covid-19 advisory board. “You can have one person sitting at the table who appears to be perfectly healthy, and you can infect most the people, if not all of the people, sitting at that table.”

If members of different households gather in someone’s home for Thanksgiving, the CDC recommended they wear masks except when eating and remain six feet apart. Windows and doors should be kept open as much as possible to improve ventilation, and contact (hugs, handshakes) should be avoided.
