Elena Yemchuk is a Ukrainian artist, photographer, and author of Vogue covers, who has lived in the United States for eleven years. In Ukraine, they are familiar with the series “Odessa” and “Hydropark” for photo books, but also the works of mistkin, presented in the format of the exhibition in Ukraine. The exhibition “Mnemosyne” showcases street photography from Elena, taken during the period of her greatest visits to Ukraine from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s. This great archive of that time – in contrast to the current staged and carefully composed photographs – is gray, crumbly, out of focus, as the curators of the exhibition Lizaveta German and Masha Lanko reveal. In this, the main theme for the artist is highlighted – a person, surrounded by a special secret, which seems both real and familiar, and at the same time divined and even mythical.

The skin object contains a corresponding barcode, which can be “read” by dispensers using special store scanners. After scanning the prices, video stories from Ukraine appear on the screen to show the current “price” that Ukrainians will pay in the future.
