From the 5th to the 14th of June there was a film festival in Toronto, one of the main cities in which the film of the Ukrainian director Valentin Vasyanovich “For Victory!” was produced. We learn about these other most colorful films on the program – from a new episode with Angelina Jolie to an epic story about the special life of William Shakespeare with Paul Mescal.
“The Robber for Calling”

Channing Tatum's charisma has by no means gone unnoticed, but “The Robber for Calling” will soon remind us of it. The crime film directed by Derek Cianfrance tells the true story of Geoffrey Manchester, a former US Army Reserve officer known as the “Robber-in-Charge” through his cunning of stealing from his family. McDonald's, we're going to eat through the dah. The role of Kohanoi Geoffrey was played by Kirsten Dunst.
“The Robber in Call” is a comedy and dynamic film, which, we hope, does not go beyond the supernatural sentimentality due to the talent of director Derek Cianfrance and the precisely thought-out roles of two extremely attractive lead actors.
“Blackout month”
Richard Linklater's new film tells the story of one evening in the life of Laurence Hart (Ethan Gouke). He is a well-known Broadway author, co-writer of the script for “Oklahoma!” – one of the most successful musicals in the history of mankind. Vlasna, the entire film is being shown in a bar and theater, until the hero collapses on himself, depriving himself of his premiere. Ethan Hawke has never been so handsome, as his role is filled with pride and warmth when he flaunts, sings, and flirts with a student at the University of Yerevan, Elizabeth Weyland, as Margaret plays. Qualley. Gouk miraculously captures the image of a genius, the creative life of which is extinguished.
Hamnet
The film adaptation of the novel by the Irish author Meggie O'Farrell tells about the struggles of William Shakespeare with his future companion Agnes, the birth of their son Hamnet in 1585, as well as the child's illness Raptov's death on the 11th birthday. The novel was filmed by talented director Chloe Zhao, an Oscar winner for the film “Nomadland.” The cast also deserves special mention: Paul Mescal played the young Shakespeare, and Irish actor Jessica Buckley played Agnes.
Couture
There are few films that manage to accurately convey the stress and pressure of the fashion industry, but the film by French director Annie Vinokur exudes its authenticity. These pages of “Couture” appear during the Paris Fashion Week: Angelina Jolie plays the director Maxine, requested by the French fashion house to create a short film before the opening of their show. Maxine's story joins the stories of two other wives – the original Sudanese model Adi (Anier Aney) and the makeup artist played by Ella Rumpf – and Jolie herself is the center of this destructiveness. a bright French film. When Maxine discovers that she has cancer, the film transforms into a real-life drama.
“Заповіт Енн Лі”
“The Commandment of Anne Lee” is a hauntingly surreal musical that tells the story of a female religious sect in the 18th century, with the brilliant performance of Amanda Seyfried. At the center of the film is the life story of Anne Lee (Amanda Seyfried), the founder of the millenarian religious sect of the Shakers, created in England in the 18th century. Their followers practiced ecstatic dances and hymns during divine services, promoting celibacy and female leadership. Before the creation of the Shakers, Lee gave birth to four children, all of whom died in childhood.
“Poganі yabloka”
It's often repeated in the film industry: Saoirse Ronan doesn't star in bad films – and it's important that they don't do any good. “Bad Apple” is a dark comedy thriller about the British teacher Maria, who goes to extreme lengths to deal with a ten-year-old Beshket student who was constantly studying her lessons. This is a warm, alarming line about those who will eventually find good people to switch to dark beige.
“For Victory!”
“For Victory!” Valentin Vasyanovich is a dystopian drama about post-war Ukraine, which destroys the complexities of a nourishing identity and turns into a crisis of self-realization. The main character is a director who does not know the possibilities for creativity in Ukraine, and whose homeland does not dare to return home due to the unstable economic situation.
The uniqueness of the episode is its autofictional nature: most of the members of a significant group play themselves, and Valentin Vasyanovich acted not only as a director, but as a Viconian in the leading role. The film won in the Platform competition program, dedicated to films with clear authorship and a strong directorial voice.
