Kate Middleton successfully ushered her two oldest children Prince George and Princess Charlotte on Christmas during their first appearance with the royal family. But the Duchess of Cambridge admitted there’s one thing she wished she hadn’t done that morning—and it has nothing to do with her children’s milestone. According to Metro, she regretted her outfit choice because she was overheating in it.
The Duchess wore a heavy grey Catherine Walker coat with a green fascinator to Christmas service in Norfolk. She spoke candidly to a royal fan, 19-year-old Rachel Anvil, about how she wish she had worn something lighter.

Rachel’s mother told Metro that “Kate was talking to my daughter about clothes and how she was feeling too hot. She said, ‘I really shouldn’t have worn this.'”
Karen, meanwhile, was speaking to Kate’s daughter Charlotte. “I’m there talking to Charlotte about dolls, and my daughter’s talking about fashion with Kate. It wasn’t fake; it was a genuine discussion. It was about a minute, but it was tailored to my daughter, it was like speaking to a friend. They are totally different with the public [than the press].”
In addition to taking her children out on Christmas morning, Kate and her husband Prince William also shared a new photo of Charlotte, George, and their younger brother Prince Louis on their Kensington Palace Instagram account the minute Christmas started in England. Kate took the candid snap of her children alongside William.
“🎄 Merry Christmas!” the couple captioned the photo. “This photograph of The Duke of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis was taken by The Duchess of Cambridge in Norfolk earlier this year. We wish all our followers a very happy and relaxing Christmas Day ⛄️”
