Selena Gomez has been single for the last two years, but she made it clear this week that she has no bad blood with one of her exes. Selena Gomez fan account TheSelenaRundown pointed out that Gomez included two songs on her new Cooking Together playlist on Spotify this week: One by rumored fling and definite friend Niall Horan and another by her 2017 boyfriend The Weeknd. The songs, Gomez said, are ones she personally listens to while in the kitchen. The playlist just went live at midnight.
Gomez chose Horan’s song “Slow Hands” and The Weeknd’s new track “Snowchild.” Gomez also featured “Snowchild” on her quarantine entertainment recommendation list that she posted on her Instagram Stories last month.
Horan and Gomez reportedly made out at Jenna Dewan’s birthday party in 2015 (“Selena seemed super into it. And Niall even more so,” a source told E! at the time). Gomez then friend-zoned him during a red carpet interview. In late 2019, dating rumors cropped up again when Gomez and Horan were photographed out with friends together. Horan shut them down: “We’re friends,” Horan told SiriusXM during an October interview, via PopBuzz. “We have the same group of friends…we hang out all the time. The one photo that was ever taken got posted. We are good friends.”
Gomez and The Weeknd, meanwhile, dated from January 2017 to October 2017. Gomez told Billboard that they ended their relationship on good terms in an interview published in late November 2017. “The best part [of being single]?” Gomez started. “It’s actually… you know what, though? Something that I’m really proud of is that there’s such a true friendship [between me and The Weeknd]. I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life. We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me.”
