Rihanna Wears Vetements Jacket, T-Shirt, and Jeans to an Oscars After Party

This year’s Oscars after parties were greatly reduced due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and restrictions on large gatherings indoors. But the Sunset Tower Hotel still had a little after party that Rihanna attended, dressed stylishly but pretty casually for an Oscar bash. Different year, different rules. The singer paired a Vetements jacket, jeans, and t-shirt with a Versace scarf and white Amina Muaddi heels. She wore a mask, of course.

Rihanna hasn’t given many interviews in the past year (though she has been out, wearing great street style outfits often), but in 2019, she spoke to Sarah Paulson for Interview magazine about why she’s been slower to release new music since she’s balancing multiple businesses (including lingerie brand Savage x Fenty and makeup company Fenty Beauty).

“I used to be in the studio, only the studio, for three months straight, and an album would come out,” she said. “Now, it’s like a carousel. I do fashion one day, lingerie the next, beauty the next, then music the next. It’s like having a bunch of kids and you need to take care of them all.”

She added that she didn’t originally dream of building an empire. “I had one dream and that was for my music to be heard all over the world,” she started. “I didn’t even think about the fame part, and then that came, and I was like, ‘Oh, shoot. Do I really want to do this?’ But the thing that keeps me alive and passionate is being creative. With every business outlet, I’m making something from a vision to a reality, and that’s the thing I really enjoy. Music had led me to these other outlets, and to things that I genuinely love. My mom pretty much worked in the beauty and perfume industry for a long time—she did makeup for people and was a makeup artist—so I always loved that.”
