Update, 3/30: Prince Charles is no longer in self-isolation and is in good health after testing positive for coronavirus last week. Clarence House announced today that “having consulted with his doctor, The Prince of Wales is now out of self-isolation.”
Charles’ self-isolation lasted seven days, in accordance with government and medical guidelines in the UK.
A royal source told ELLE that his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, “remains in self-isolation until the end of the week. Her Royal Highness will continue to hold meetings and will be able to take exercise, according to medical and government guidelines.”
Original, 3/25: Clarence House announced on Wednesday morning that Prince Charles, Prince Harry and Prince William’s father and the 71-year-old heir to the British throne, has tested positive for coronavirus. His wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was also tested but does not currently have the virus.
In a statement, a Clarence House rep said that “the Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual. The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus. In accordance with Government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland. The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria for testing. It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his role during recent weeks.

“The Prince and Duchess remain in touch with their families at present, and the Prince has spoken to both of his sons to share the news with them,” a Palace spokesperson added in a call later. “The symptoms he has are not preventing him from doing his work in the usual way.”
Charles’ last full week of engagements was the week of March 9—during which the Prince of Wales attended Commonwealth Day service with the full royal family that Monday.
From there, the Prince was in Highgrove before moving to Scotland on March 22. “During that week, he had very few meetings and very few in person encounters,” the spokesperson said. “Those people would have been either Highgrove or Duchy related individuals and they have all been notified of the Prince’s coronavirus situation.”
“He has not been to hospital,” the spokesperson added. “His symptoms are mild and Is in good spirits.” Charles’ symptoms came on “the backend of the weekend,” and he was tested Monday.
The Prince and Duchess remain in self isolation separately within Birkhall. A Palace spokesman said, in regards to Charles’ contact with Kate Middleton and Prince William, “The [Commonwealth Day Westminster] Abbey service is the last time they were undertaking an engagement together. Whether or not they saw each other separately, I can’t tell you, it would have been a private meeting.”
Camilla and Charles “both remain in good spirits,” the spokesman said. “She has concern for the Prince,” but is “keeping a close eye on him and mindful of her own situation. She is very upbeat.”
Buckingham Palace also updated royal reporters on the state of the Queen, who had also taken meetings the past couple weeks and who saw Prince Charles in the last two weeks. She is now at Windsor Castle, where she began her Easter break early. At this point, she is not ill.
“Her Majesty The Queen remains in good health,” a Buckingham Palace rep said. “The Queen last saw The Prince of Wales briefly after the investiture on the morning of 12th March and is following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare. We will not be commenting further.”
