Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Delivered Meals to Needy in Los Angeles

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been quarantining with their nearly-one-year-old son Archie in their new Los Angeles home, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are well enough that they were able to quietly give back to their new community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Local publication WEHOville reports that Meghan and Harry volunteered with Project Angel Food yesterday to deliver meals to those in need in West Hollywood.

Dan Tyrell, who received meals from the Duke and Duchess, spoke to the publication about his experience and sheer surprise to see them there. “They were both nice and very down-to earth people,” Tyrell said. “They had masks on, and they were dressed down with jeans, but very nice jeans. I thought that tall red-headed guy looked pretty familiar, and that girl was very pretty. Then I saw the large black SUVs with the security guards behind them.”

“If they had given me the heads up, I would have worn my tiara!” Tyrell joked.

According to WEHOville, Project Angel Food “cooks, prepares, and delivers meals to people living with critical illnesses including HIV/AIDs, cancer, kidney failure, diabetes and congestive heart disease.” Their clients tend to be over 60 with comprised immune systems, placing them at a higher risk to become seriously ill should they contract coronavirus.

Project Angel Food’s director Richard Ayoub spoke to the publication about Meghan and Harry volunteering. “They wanted to help us relieve some of the drivers from their workload,” he said. “So they made deliveries in West Hollywood today. It’s really, really amazing. We loved having them and they are the most down-to-earth people.”
