Selena Gomez formally closed the chapter on her Justin Bieber heartbreak a year ago when she released her songs “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now.” Now, she’s dating other people and has long healed and moved on from her and Justin’s nearly 10-year on-off relationship. But to some Jelena fans, their story isn’t done—and one fan’s video got both Justin and his wife of two years Hailey Bieber to respond and ask for people to stop harassing Hailey and pitting her and Selena against each other.
Selena did not make any comment about that drama, but a source told Entertainment Tonight that yes, she does have feelings about people still roping her into Justin’s narrative. She is very sick of it and would like everyone to stop.
“Selena, Justin and Hailey are all tired of the Selena vs. Hailey narrative at this point,” a source told the outlet. “It’s exhausting for everyone, and they just want people to move on so they can move on too and not focus on any further negativity or past situations.”
Back in October 2019—over one year ago—Selena publicly called on her fans to stop attacking Hailey. At the time, Hailey sparked a scandal among Selenators when she posted an Instagram Story of herself listening to Summer Walker’s “I’ll Kill You” minutes after Selena released “Lose You to Love Me,” her big Justin Bieber breakup song.
Selena never named Hailey explicitly, but she didn’t need to in order to make her point that the harassment needed to stop: “I am grateful for the response that the song is getting. I’m so grateful,” she said. “However, I do not stand for women tearing women down. And I will never, ever be by that. So please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is. If you’re my fans, don’t be rude to anybody, please. Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment. And just please, from me, know that that’s not my heart. My heart is only to release things that I feel that are me and that I’m proud of. And that’s all that I’ll say, yeah.”
She added later, “Again, please be kind. Please, please, please be kind. I don’t like seeing people being disrespectful or rude to other people, so please don’t do that.”
