Good morning to proud dad Drake. On Wednesday, the rapper took to Instagram to post a photo of his two-year-old son Adonis before his first day of school.

In the photo, Adonis is standing outside near an SUV, wearing an all-black outfit, and looking at the camera like he knows this is about to be broadcast to Drake’s 72 million followers. Drake also tagged Adonis’ mom, Sophie Brussaux, making it a bit unclear who actually took the photo.
Drake first revealed to the world that he had a son back in June 2018, though he didn’t share a photo of him until March 2020. At the time, people were just beginning the long months of quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Drake posted a gallery of photos on Instagram, writing, “I love and miss my beautiful family and friends and I can’t wait for the joyful day when we are all able to reunite.”

Then this June, for Father’s Day, he posted another shot of Adonis and wrote, “Happy Fathers Day to all the real g’z handling business 🌍”

Though Drake keeps his life as a dad fairly private, he spoke about Adonis on his 2018 double album Scorpion. In his song “Emotionless,” Drake says:
“I wasn’t hidin’ my kid from the world / I was hidin’ the world from my kid/ From empty souls who just wake up and looked to debate / Until you starin’ at your seed, you can never relate / Breakin’ news in my life, I don’t run to the blogs / The only ones I wanna tell are the ones I can call / They always ask, ‘Why let the story run if it’s false?’ You know a wise man once said nothin’ at all.”
Then on the song “March 14,” Drake says:
“Now it’s rough times, I’m out here on front lines / Just tryin’ to make sure that I see him sometimes / It’s breakin’ my spirit / Single father, I hate when I hear it / I used to challenge my parents on every album / Now I’m embarrassed to tell them I ended up as a co-parent / Always promised the family unit / I wanted it to be different because I’ve been through it.”
