Quarantine hasn’t ended the paparazzi’s shots of couples going out, even if they’re only going out for a careful, socially distant walk. While couples like Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have been snapped making out outside multiple times, Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin were seen showing more minimal but still pretty rare PDA for their standards. They were photographed in Malibu this Saturday arm-in-arm, walking Johnson’s dog.
It comes shortly after Johnson did a hand wash challenge video featuring Martin’s hands. Olivia Wilde posted it, captioning it, “Dakota Johnson: Hand wash CHAMPION.”
Johnson and Martin have been dating on-off since the fall of 2017. They were reported to have taken a break last summer although they never confirmed the split reports that came out in June 2019. By August, the two were reported to have reconciled.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Martin’s “consciously-uncoupled” ex-wife, was credited for helping make this reconciliation happened. A source told Us Weekly that “Gwyneth is the one who pushed them to do it.”
Johnson and Martin have kept their relationship largely off social media throughout its entire duration. The only official proof of their dating has been the couple being photographed sporadically on a public date, like their walk this weekend.
The two have also chosen not to speak about their relationship in interviews. The most Johnson has said about Martin was in her November 2018 interview with Tatler. She stressed that she was keeping their romance private. “I’m not going to talk about it,” Johnson told the magazine, per E!, when asked about dating Martin. “But I am very happy.”
