Anne Hathaway Dressed Up as The Princess Diaries’ Mia Thermopolis to Do the #PillowChallenge

Anne Hathaway gave fans a little gift on her Instagram today, posting a photo of herself doing the viral #PillowChallenge while dressed like the Disney character that shot her into teen stardom: The Princess Diaries’ Mia Thermopolis. The first film, released in 2001, turns 19 years old this year, but Hathaway, 37, pretty expertly recreated her pose on the movie’s poster with her oversized sunglasses, headphones, and combat boots. Pillows served as her dress, as the challenge dictates. All that was missing from her ensemble was a tiara, really.

“‘A Queen is never late; everyone else is simply early,’” Hathaway captioned the post, referencing a quote Julie Andrews’ character, Queen Clarisse, told Mia. Her post has already gotten over 1 million likes within two hours of Hathaway posting it.

Hathaway has teased the possibility of a third Princess Diaries being made before, confirming in January 2019 that it’s actively in the works.

She told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that “there is a script for the third movie. That is so cute [the audience’s reaction]. There is a script,” she said. “I want to do it. Julie [Andrews] wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen. It’s just we don’t want to unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it. It’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it so…”

No public updates on the film’s status have been made recently. But Hathaway’s Instagram is proof enough that The Princess Diaries and its longtime fans remain on her mind.
