Not only is Miranda Kerr a supermodel, mom, author, and organic beauty brand founder—she’s also a walking skin care ingredient encyclopedia. On a call before the launch of KORA Organics’ new Milky Mushroom Gentle Cleansing Oil, out now, Kerr rattles off the benefits of the skin-refreshing formula as naturally as she does when chatting about the weather, or recalling how her family has adjusted to work-from-home life.

Take the oil cleanser’s namesake mushroom for example. “That silver ear mushroom is an ingredient that I love to use because it really helps bind that moisture to your skin. It acts like a hyaluronic acid,” Kerr tells BAZAAR.com. “The babassu oil and apple seed oil and the sunflower seed oil, that combination with the silver ear mushroom really helps put the essential fatty acids into your skin whilst cleansing your skin in a gentle way.”
Gentle, intentional, experiential—these words bubble up when Kerr breaks down her own skincare routine, which has featured the dual-phase oil cleanser for quite some time. “Even if we don’t have makeup on, I do still believe it’s important to cleanse your skin at the end of the day,” she says. “What’s funny is my husband, he was like, ‘Miranda, I know you’ve got this cleanser in [the shower], but I keep seeing this separation, is that supposed to be that way?’ I was like, yes honey, that’s actually intentional. Like, I really wanted it to be that way—that dual-phase cleansing milk that you have to shake to activate, because that’s part of the experience.”
