Gerresheimer to spin off moulded glass business ahead of sale

Following a comprehensive strategic review of its global business model, German packaging and medical equipment maker Gerresheimer has announced plans to spin off its moulded glass business for a future sale.

The planned divestment marks a key step in Gerresheimer’s ongoing transformation into a dedicated systems and solutions provider for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, with a specialized focus on primary packaging and drug delivery systems.

Following the acquisition of Bormioli Pharma, Gerresheimer had consolidated its moulded glass operations into a new “Moulded Glass Powerhouse” comprising eight production facilities across Europe [1], the United States, and India. The business unit serves a broad range of end markets—including pharma, cosmetics, and food & beverage—while generating approximately EUR 735 million in revenue and an adjusted EBITDA margin of around 20% in 2024.

“We see the best growth opportunities for our newly formed Moulded Glass Powerhouse outside the Gerresheimer Group,” said Dietmar Siemssen, CEO of Gerresheimer AG.

The company will provide an update on the divestment at its Capital Markets Day on October 15, 2025.
