The prominent US consumer products company Kimberly-Clark revealed on Monday, November 3rd, an agreement valued at 48.7 billion to procure the consumer wellness firm Kenvue, the manufacturer of the acetaminophen-based pain reliever Tylenol.
With this purchase, Kimberly-Clark will assume control of Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) previous consumer health division along with its leading treatments, skincare and haircare lines, including Neutrogena, Aveeno, and OGX.
Located in Texas, Kimberly-Clark produces a vast assortment of paper and textile products, marketed under brands like Huggies, Kleenex, and Kotex.
“We are thrilled to unite these two renowned entities, forming a preeminent leader in global health and wellness,” stated Kimberly-Clark’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mike Hsu, in a public statement. He alluded to the company’s “notable evolution” in recent years towards “more rapidly expanding businesses and more profitable ventures.”
Both companies anticipate the transaction will finalize by the latter half of 2026. Hsu will then take on the roles of chairman and CEO of the combined organization.
“Our alliance with Kimberly-Clark will merge two remarkably complementary ranges, each brimming with recognized, cherished brands and everyday necessities that people rely upon throughout their lives,” commented Kirk Perry, Kenvue’s Chief Executive Officer.
The firms project that the joint enterprise will yield estimated annual net revenues of 32 billion US dollars in 2025, along with a consistent operating profit of roughly 7 billion US dollars.
The resultant organization will integrate an extensive collection of health, sanitation, and self-care trademarks — including about ten brands which each generate over one billion dollars in annual sales, such as Huggies, Neutrogena, Johnson’s, Listerine, Tylenol, Kleenex, Scott, Cottonelle, Kotex, and Depend.
Kenvue was created as a separate entity from Johnson & Johnson’s consumer product division in 2023.
