The brand launched its first sonic cleansing device in 2004, and has since sold more than 15 million brushes. A favorite of many dermatologists, the patented device uses sonic technology to get pores really, really clean, as well as remove makeup and other grime. Over the years, the brand expanded and offered innovative attachments and cleansing brushes for all skin concerns and parts of the body. Clarisonic won numerous beauty awards, and was even one of Oprah’s Favorite Things back in 2007. The brand was bought by L’Oréal in 2011. In recent years, the brand faced tough—and inexpensive—competition in the cleansing brush and beauty device space.
