For the updated, improved, version of their renowned top-selling eye treatment Total Eye Lift, Clarins partnered with Aptar Beauty’s proprietary refillable airless technology, Gaïa.
This marks the initial global launch showcasing Aptar Beauty’s patented airless container, Gaïa. Crafted by Aptar Beauty, Gaïa is comprised of a selection of standard technical elements at the heart of the refill apparatus, paired with bespoke external components – including the applicator and outer shell.
Metallic housing and plastic refills
The primary container is fashioned from metal, while the plastic refills exhibit elevated recyclability [1] within the PP (Polypropylene) and PE (Polyethylene) recycling streams.
The refills integrate a dual-injection collar gasket to reliably connect to the main enclosure with minimal air entrance. Refills are available for individual purchase and are intended for use exclusively with their corresponding container.
The complete packaging was specifically engineered to align with Clarins’ product specifications and guarantee a distinctive user experience, without sacrificing aesthetics or efficacy.
Total Eye Lift is presented in a 15ml size providing an accurate and uniform 150 µl dosage, perfect for precise eye care. The upscale, refined red metallic outer shell has been uniquely designed exclusively for Clarins, ensuring a singular and trademark design. Its streamlined, flawless aesthetic conceals all technological components internally, facilitating harmonious minimalist refills.
Clarins asserts a decrease of 73% in ecological impact [2] owing to this new “eco-designed refillable container.” Acquiring a fresh recyclable refill signifies 50% less metal, 33% less plastic, and 29% less cardboard in comparison to the prior Total Eye Lift packaging.
The Gaïa system is protected by two Aptar patents:
– one for the intuitive push-and-pull refill mechanism: drawing inspiration from a retractable pen, the gentle axial movement ensures user-friendliness and a fluid user experience.
– the other for the double tamper evident system: a dual-level security measure located on the refill ensuring airtight safeguarding of the formula and prevention of back-contamination. The initial seal detaches from the refill; the subsequent one is broken upon insertion into the primary container.
