Bormioli Luigi aims to deliver premium quality glass to Latin American brands

Established in Brazil since 2020, Bormioli Luigi is strengthening its presence in Latin America through its São Paulo subsidiary. Renowned in the luxury sector for the quality of its glass and its comprehensive service offerings, the Italian glassmaker aims to serve the high-end perfume and skincare markets across the continent. Simone Baratta, Director of the Perfume & Prestige Business Unit, and Marta de Oliveira Bagolin, Head of the LATAM region, share their insights about the company’s latest achievements.

Premium Beauty News – Why do you want to strengthen the São Paulo sales office?

Simone Baratta – Since 2020, we have been focused on the Brazilian market, monitoring its developments closely. We strongly believe that this is a market with immense potential for the future, not only in Brazil but also in neighboring countries like Colombia and Peru. Now, we are ready to take the next step. Brazilian brands are striving to grow and establish a global presence, and we can offer them something different. While local suppliers deliver solid execution, we likely have the expertise to handle more complex designs. However, beyond the superior quality of the Bormioli Luigi glass, our real value lies in helping brands elevate their offerings and move towards greater premiumization.

Marta de Oliveira Bagolin – This market is not so different from Europe, as the expectations are comparable. Brands here are highly attuned to sustainable development and eco-design, making it a qualitative market that values transparency. While price remains an important factor, sustainability is equally significant. Additionally, fostering long-term relationships is a key priority in this region.

Premium Beauty News – How is your presence organized?

Simone Baratta – We supply bottles manufactured in Europe, with the decoration process handled by local partners that we have carefully selected for their ability to deliver high-quality services. To address logistical needs, such as short lead times for large volumes, we are also exploring partnerships with on-site providers. Our São Paulo office houses dedicated sales and technical teams to efficiently support the needs of our customers in the region.

Marta de Oliveira – We have a warehouse here in São Paulo and supervise the logistics while supporting our partners to enable them to evolve towards the level of service that we provide to our European customers. The main challenge is to be agile and flexible.

Premium Beauty News – What growth potential have you identified?

Simone Baratta – We already collaborate with the largest groups such as Boticário, Natura, and we want to expand our customer portfolio with brands of all sizes in the perfumery sector, but skincare can also represent an interesting market. In other countries across the region, including Peru, Mexico, and Colombia, we see highly dynamic brands that are moving upmarket and demanding more sophisticated packaging solutions.

Premium Beauty News – Are you planning to open an industrial site on the continent?

Simone Baratta – We do not exclude the possibility of opening a local industrial site, probably starting with decoration. Brazil is a market very oriented towards image and differentiation and it would be perfectly adapted. But nothing is planned for the moment.
