In early August, the global leader in beauty and personal care packaging struck a deal to acquire Amfora Packaging, a Bogotá-based plastic packaging manufacturer with operations in Colombia and Peru.
Amfora Packaging specializes in the development and manufacture of packaging solutions for the perfume, cosmetics, personal care, and pharmaceutical sectors. It was created in 2015 from the merger of two family-owned companies, Intecplast in Bogotá, Colombia, and Pieriplast in Lima, Peru.
The deal strengthens Albéa’s footprint in Latin America, one of the fastest-growing markets for beauty and personal care. The group already operates a production facility in Matamoros, Mexico—its North American “center of excellence” for mascara, lip gloss, and lipstick. Albéa once had a factory in Brazil but divested it as part of the sale of its pump business to Silgan.
“Amfora Packaging’s close customer relationships will give us direct access to key players in the beauty and personal care industry. We will be able to continue to provide the best possible support to our international customers and meet the growing demand for local sourcing,” said François Tassart, CEO of the Albéa Group.
“We couldn’t have found a better partner: our two companies share the same passion for the customer, a constant commitment to innovation, and a common culture rooted in a responsible entrepreneurial vision,” adds Bertrand de la Tour d’Artaise, Deputy CEO Strategy and M&A at Albéa Group.
