Watch Billie Eilish’s Oscars 2020 Performance of The Beatles’ ‘Yesterday’

One of the Oscars’ most hyped performances has finally arrived. On Sunday night, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell took the stage for a special performance. The two performed during the in memoriam segment of the show, playing a moving cover of The Beatles’ “Yesterday.”

Eilish announced the news ahead of the Oscars on her Instagram Story. “Honored to be performing during the in memoriam segment for the Oscars tonight, covering a song I’ve always loved. Watch with us.”

Twitter users immediately shared clips from the performance.

Eilish and her brother were confirmed last month to have written the theme song for the upcoming James Bond: No Time to Die movie, giving them a big tie to the movie industry. In a statement, Eilish said, via Variety, that “it feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

Eilish’s debut Oscars performance comes just two weeks after she performed for the first time at the Grammys. Eilish also won the four biggest awards of the night: Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year.

The singer went viral for her reaction at the end, when she told the crowd that she thought Ariana Grande should have won Album of the Year for Thank U, Next. Ever the humble type, Grande rejected the notion and said Eilish deserved the honor. Still, Eilish told Grande during her speech, “I think it [Thank U, Next] deserves [Album of the Year] like more than anything in the world. I love you so much.”
