Olivante: Eurofragance’s novel, lavish, and repurposed scent component

The Spanish perfume company will present its fourth unique scent component at the Beautyworld Middle East expo in Dubai (October 27-29, 2025). Called Olivante, this repurposed and entirely natural element brings a sophisticated sense of luxury to scent creations, appealing particularly to tastes in the Gulf area.

Well-known for its striking and distinctive scents, highly esteemed throughout the Middle East, Eurofragance broadens its selection with a fresh, exclusive perfumery component. With phenolic and animalic nuances suggestive of castoreum, Olivante integrates several of the aromatic characteristics favored in the region’s iconic blends, such as mukhallats.

Providing opulence

While it perfectly complements Middle Eastern aromatic inclinations, Olivante can also impart novel intensity and uniqueness to the hallmark notes of Western perfumery.

Eurofragance perfumers, who have been creating with this groundbreaking captive element, affirm that with the addition of Olivante, fruity notes turn more lavish, gourmand notes more delightful and appealing, and certain white floral notes more powerful. Produced from olive leftover matter, subsequent to oil extraction, Olivante does not possess an oily scent.

In recent years we have observed how consumers in the West have become more receptive to Middle Eastern perfumery. Strong notes of leather and oud have achieved consumer acceptance far beyond the Gulf Region. Olivante is versatile and presents some of these olfactory facets that are now valued across regions,” stated Belén Garcia, Master Perfumer at Eurofragance.

Thoughtfully upcycled

For its fourth exclusive raw material, Eurofragance partnered with a leading entity in the olive oil sector that reuses olive residues into diverse byproducts.

Because differing kinds of olives yield distinct odorant residues, Felipe San Juan, R&D Manager Ingredients and Fragrance Performance, and Magdalena Rey, Technical Perfumer, both at Eurofragance, dedicated months exploring the Spanish countryside in search of the type of olive with the correct concentration of the desired volatile compounds and precursors.

Working for over two years with a waste management specialist, they perfected the ideal source material, which Eurofragance then transformed and purified employing a sustainable, multi-stage procedure.

Olivante cannot be derived from just any olive pulp. Terroir and climate from a very specific part of Spain are critical to this project. Following that, we utilized our scientific knowledge to characterize and segregate the key odorant molecules required to develop a desirable captive component,” emphasized San Juan.

Besides proposing a new olfactory sensation, this natural component could also attract brands aiming to provide their consumers with products featuring a sustainability narrative.

Olivante is notable for its aptitude to deliver perfume richness, or opulence, in a manner that is fresher and less weighty. Also, it’s not just intended for luxury perfumes. Our preliminary trials formulating personal care and home scenting items with Olivante are encouraging and we believe that this a proprietary component with considerable potential for wider market acceptance,” added Sine Guçetil, Global Marketing Director at Eurofragance.

Olivante, which is presently under patent consideration, complements the three other proprietary scent components created by Eurofragance: L’Âme du Bois, another original repurposed olfactory molecule; Verdenix, a multifunctional component designed for neutralizing unpleasant scents and derived from the revalorization of production waste from another ingredient; and Euphorion, a synthetic element that acts particularly on emotional perception.
