On the morning of Golden Globes nominations, some fans deemed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in the Upside Down. The voting body that determines the film and TV nominees failed to nominate Stranger Things’ wildly popular third season in any categories.
That means that cast members including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, and Charlie Heaton didn’t walk the red carpet or attend the ceremony. Fans also missed out on watching the likes of Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and the rest of the Hawkins gang at this year’s Emmys. However, Stranger Things was not represented at the September awards show because it didn’t meet the qualification time frame. That means it will be eligible for Emmys next year.
However, when it comes to the Golden Globes, the third installment failed to register with HFPA voters. It’s the first season for which the Netflix series hasn’t been nominated. For season 1, both Stranger Things and Winona Ryder were nominated in the Best Television Drama categories for series and actress respectively. Season 2 also garnered two nominations—for Best Television Series Drama and David Harbour’s supporting performance.
But before you begin boycotting awards season all together, keep in mind that Stranger Things received two nominations at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Those will be held on Sunday, January 19. There, the entire cast will be up for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series while David Harbour is nominated for his individual performance. Plus, the whole crew is expected to return for season 4.
