Even though Trey Songz said he would be taking COVID ‘seriously’ after testing positive for the coronavirus, the rapper packed an Ohio nightclub for a concert – and fans blasted him over this ‘clown’ move!
Trey Songz came under fire after holding a 500-person indoor “Champagne Saturdays” event at the Aftermath night club in Columbus, Ohio, per the New York Post. During the Dec. 5 event, undercover agents observed roughly 500 people fill the 15,000-square foot space to watch Trey, 36, perform. “Most of the crowd,” per the Post, was maskless. They didn’t practice social distancing, and the club didn’t put up physical barriers to keep attendees separated from each other. Considering that Trey revealed in October that he tested positive for COVID-19 and that he lost a grandfather to the disease, fans were in disbelief over the news.
“@TreySongz tryna be a two time Covid winner,” one tweeted. Others wondered why people would risk their lives by going to a concert in the middle of a pandemic. “People chancing Covid FOR TREY SONGZ?!?! Hate to see it.” “Yall are spreading covid like an STD…..for trey songz???” “I don’t understand Trey Songz. Why is he out here giving a #COVID concert [clown emoji]” “Our people knowing we’re the most vulnerable, but still packing a venue maskless for TREY SONGZ? I’M SO TIRED OF Y’ALL NOT TAKING COVID SERIOUSLY.” “Imagine risking getting covid for trey songz”

The undercover agents also “observed patrons standing, walking freely and sharing alcoholic beverages directly from the same bottle as they were passed between groups,” said the authorities, per the Post. In the wake of this concert, the club was cited for “improper conduct and disorderly activities.” The incident has been referred to the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for potential penalties, which could involve Aftermath losing its liquor license.

“Here with a very important message to let you know I tested positive for COVID-19,” Trey said in an Oct 5 Instagram video. “I’ve taken many tests as I’ve been out protesting, food drives. Of course, I have a very young son at home. So I get tested periodically, and this time it, unfortunately, came back positive. … I will be taking it seriously, I will be self-quarantining. I will be in my house until I see a negative sign.”

Trey also said that he lost his grandfather earlier in the year and “believes” it was due to COVID. “I’ve always taken it [seriously], and if you come into contact with COVID, please do the same,” he added. “Please do the same. Don’t be like the president [Donald Trump].”
