Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have allegedly ‘split within the last few weeks,’ despite Cody saying he was ‘in love’ with the singer on Aug. 1.
Miley Cyrus, 27, and Cody Simpson, 23, might be sliding away from each other. The couple “officially called it quits on their relationship,” and the alleged breakup happened “within the last few weeks,” sources told TMZ on Aug. 13. However, the outlet couldn’t provide the reason of this alleged split — HollywoodLife has reached out to Miley and Cody’s reps for comment.

The report was a shock to fans, considering that Miley and Cody have pretty much been inseparable throughout their quarantine together in Los Angeles. Just 12 days before the breakup report surfaced, Cody even declared that he’s “in love” with his “best friend” over a photo of the Australian singer and Miley on his Instagram Story — which you can see below — indicating no signs of trouble in the relationship. Miley and Cody appeared just as happy about a month ago, when they filmed a couple’s dance video that went viral on TikTok on July 5.
The breakup news arrived just hours before Miley’s highly-anticipated interview will air on the Call Her Daddy podcast. In a teaser that was released on Aug. 13, Miley dropped a bombshell while chatting with host Alexandra Cooper: “I didn’t go all the way with a dude until I was 16. But I ended up marrying the guy.” Of course, Miley was talking about her one and only ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, 30! The longtime loves, who met while filming The Last Song in 2009, infamously rocked the world with their sudden split in Aug. 2019 after just eight months of marriage.

It didn’t take long for either ex-spouse to move on to new lovers. Miley was seen making out with Cody in Oct. 2019, and just over a week later, Cody confirmed that he’s “not single” while speaking EXCLUSIVELY with HollywoodLife at Tiffany & Co. Men’s Launch Event in Los Angeles. The romance quickly became serious for Cody and Miley, who had already been friends for years before dating.
Miley and Cody were previously “doing great,” and while quarantine “has been a real test for relationships” overall, the singers passed with flying colors,” a source close to Miley EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife in May of 2020. The insider added, “It really helps that they aren’t partying so their minds are clear and their moods are stable. They’ve been able to really focus all their energy on positive, healthy stuff.” During that same month, Cody released the music video for his song “Captain’s Dance With The Devil,” which was directed and styled by Miley.

Meanwhile, Liam was spotted with Australian model Gabriella Brooks, 24, in Dec. 2019, and they’ve been dating since! “Liam and Gabriella have pretty much spent all of the quarantine together in Australia and it’s been working well for them. She’s very easygoing and loves the relaxed beach life just like Liam,” a friend of Liam’s EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife in August.
