With the release of Rare, Selena Gomez has emerged back into the spotlight right in the heart of awards season. But the singer didn’t attend the Grammys two weeks ago, and she’s not at the Oscars tonight despite her A-list status. Gomez hasn’t been to the Academy Awards before, and this year, she wasn’t asked to present and obviously has no film projects nominated.
Gomez has gone to the Vanity Fair Oscars after party several times over the years. There was her first big debut red carpet appearance with then-boyfriend Justin Bieber in 2011:
In 2012, she posed on the red carpet for the second time there—though that year, she went solo in an embellished silver dress:
She and Vanessa Hudgens also posed together at the 2013 Vanity Fair party, where Gomez wore a nude dress:
In 2014, Gomez was back in a silver sheer dress at the Vanity Fair after party:
A year later, she attended the 2015 Vanity Fair after party in a black lace column gown:
The last time she attended the party was in 2016, when she wore a silver column gown. So while it’s been three years since she has attended the bash, tonight could continue her Vanity Fair party fashion history:
Gomez has given no hint whether she’ll be out during Oscars night on her social media yet. Her biggest announcement came earlier this week when she revealed she’s launching her own beauty line, Rare Beauty, this summer.
“It’s not just a brand. It’s going to be a lifestyle,” Gomez said during an Instagram Live where she shared the news. “I want girls and boys and men and women to feel comfortable. It’s [Rare Beauty] meant to be enjoyed, it’s very special. We are not meant to look like everybody else, we’re meant to look like ourselves.”
