And who is one of the new leads of the Gossip Girl reboot? That’s one secret HBO is ready to tell. Deadline reported that Emily Alyn Lind has been cast as an Upper East Side elite in the upcoming HBO Max series.
In it, she’ll play a character named Audrey who “has been in a long term relationship and is beginning to wonder what more could be out there.” Below, everything we know about the star, including her special tie to another popular teen drama series.
She’s starring in the Gossip Girl reboot.
Lind confirmed news of her casting on Instagram, writing, “seen u soon upper east side, xoxo ;).” Showrunner/executive producer Joshua Safran also expressed his excitement, tweeting, “So excited to welcome the preternaturally talented Emily Alyn Lind to GG. Expect more casting news imminently.”

Lind is the first actor to fill the designer clothes once worn by the likes of Blake Lively and Leighton Meester—but we already know a bit about who could be joining her. In November, The Wrap reported Kristen Bell would return as the series narrator. And Safran told Entertainment Tonight that the new characters would reference Serena, Blair, Chuck, and Dan. (Could there be a potential family relation between characters in the reboot and the OG Upper East Siders?)
During an interview at Vulture Festival, Safran explained that the reboot’s cast and content would also be more diverse. “Even when I went to private school in New York in the ’90s, the school didn’t necessarily reflect what was on Gossip Girl,” he admitted. “So, this time around the leads are nonwhite. There’s a lot of queer content on this show. It is very much dealing with the way the world looks now, where wealth and privilege come from, and how you handle that. The thing I can’t say is there is a twist, and that all relates to the twist.”
She’s been a working actress since childhood.
Long before Lind said XOXO to her new gig, she had been racking up film and TV credits. Her first onscreen appearance came at just six years old when she portrayed a young Dakota Fanning in 2008’s The Secret Life of Bees. From there, she played Shirley Temple in the Scorsese movie J. Edgar, recurred on the ABC drama Revenge, and co-starred in the 2019 horror flick Doctor Sleep.
She’s also a singer.
The opportunity for a musical episode of Gossip Girl may be in the cards. In November 2019, Lind released her first official single “Castles.” She also regularly shares song covers and guitar solos on Instagram.
She has a special connection to One Tree Hill.
Lind could get some advice on how to star in a hit teen drama from her mother. Lind’s mom is none other than actress Barbara Alyn Woods, who played Deb Scott on nine seasons of One Tree Hill. Woods posted her support for Lind on Twitter, sharing several news stories about her daughter’s new role.

In fact, Lind’s entire family is involved in show business. Her father is assistant director/producer John Lind (Legends of the Fall, Soul Surfer) and her two sisters—Natalie Alyn Lind (The Goldbergs) and Alyvia Alyn Lind (Overboard)—are also actresses.
She’s spent some time in NYC.
The concrete jungle plays a major role in Gossip Girl—and Lind’s IG suggests she’s experienced at least one relatable moment in the Big Apple. In October 2019, the actress shared a series of photos where she’s eating a slice of pizza in New York. Lind relatably captioned the pics, “post mental breakdown cry sesh in random NY bathroom u feel me ladies.”
