The Justin Bieber: Seasons documentary covered his wedding this week and shared never-before-seen footage of the actual ceremony that happened in South Carolina in September. One thing the clips confirmed? The reports about Bieber having trouble with his vows were true. A clip of Baldwin and Bieber’s vow exchange showed Bieber asked the officiator about the definition of some words.
Originally, The Christian Post reported that Bieber “stumbled over [his] vows six times,” he was that nervous. It’s unclear whether it was truly six times, but he did have some trouble. You can watch the clip of Bieber’s vow exchange on The Sun.
But essentially, the officiator instructed Bieber to repeat, “in token and pledge of our constant faith,” and that’s where the Biebs got a little confused.
“In token and pledge in our…” Bieber started, then asked, “In token?”
“In token and pledge of our constant faith,” the officiator repeated.
“In token and pledge?” Bieber asked, befuddled.
“Yes,” he replied.
“In token… and pledge…” Bieber hesitantly said. Guests began to giggle. Then he asked the officiator, “What does that mean?” And the room laughed.
Baldwin, in an interview later, said that she believes all the little kinks from their wedding day were destiny and made the occasion all it was. “Everything happened the exact way it was supposed to,” she said. “I really believe that even all the little mishaps that might have happened and us stumbling over our words and whatever it was, I think that it was so meant to be.”
