Meet Selena La Reina.
Is it the sparkly purple halter-back jumpsuit Selena Quintanilla Perez wore to her very last performance at the 1995 Houston Rodeo that immediately comes to mind when you mention the late Latin singer’s name? Or maybe it’s the matching white embellished bustier and high waisted pants or her glistening 1994 Grammy Award gown?
From her scintillating sartorial choices to her timeless Tejano music, everything Selena touched shone brightly—so it only makes sense her new M.A.C Cosmetics collaboration does the same.
In honor of Selena Quintanilla’s 25th anniversary, M.A.C is honoring the Tejano legend with a brand new collection, four years after its first M.A.C x Selena collection debuted. Working side-by-side with Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, M.A.C and Selena’s family designed a colorful range full of “rich shades in a variety of product categories flatter all skin types and tones, while speaking truly to the icon’s legendary makeup looks.”
Today, February 25 (25 years after Selena last graced the stage), M.A.C revealed it will be re-releasing the M.A.C Bidi Bidi Bom Lipglass—a soft, bubblegum pink with silver flecks that were initially released in the inaugural collection.
Suzette Quintanilla always knew she wanted to commemorate her sister’s legacy with the iconic makeup brand and after the team’s first collection, Suzette was ready for another. “When I was sitting with the M.A.C team the night before the Selena launch event in Corpus Christi, TX, I told them we would be working together one day again soon,” she tells ELLE.com. “I am forever grateful to MAC for allowing me to bring my creative vision to life for this collection and being able to share what I felt would celebrate my sister’s 25th Anniversary.”
The first 13-piece collection was a tribute to Selena’s signature makeup looks that were always punctuated with a scarlet red lip and sharp black liner and sold out immediately. So “bidi bidi bom bom” over to M.A.C’s official site to sign up for updates on the M.A.C x Selena Reina collection before it arrives this April.
