Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been living fairly quiet lives since they announced in early January that they will be stepping back from their roles as senior royals, moving outside of the U.K., and becoming financially independent. On Friday, Valentine’s Day, the couple was photographed—at an airport—for the first time since they announced their big news.
These Valentine’s Day photos weren’t official portraits like Harry and Meghan’s posed engagement photos, but the casual shots, from the Daily Mail, of the couple at the Victoria airport in Canada, did capture their pure joy. They arrived at the airport at 4:45 p.m. after a commercial flight from the U.S.
Harry and Meghan’s son, Archie, was not seen with them. The new parents were both dressed casually: Meghan was in a blue-and-white pinstriped button-down shirt under a black jacket. She perched a pair of sunglasses on the front of her shirt and paired the whole look with black skinny jeans. Harry wore a light-gray pullover, jeans, and a brown baseball cap.
Since Harry and Meghan discussed negotiations of their royal step-back with the Queen and the rest of the family, they have only made one public appearance. Early in February, the couple was in Miami, where they spoke at a J.P. Morgan event and went on a double-date with Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez.
Meghan and Harry reportedly been “keeping a low profile” in recent weeks as she gets settled into life in Canada with Archie.
“[Harry and Meghan] love to be outside and have been loving it there,” a friend of the couple told People. “They are enjoying living a quiet life,” the source continued. “They go for long walks, they do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They are real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs.”
