Princess Beatrice’s Royal Wedding Date and Venue Details

Another year, another British royal wedding is upon us: Buckingham Palace just announced the date and venue for Princess Beatrice’s royal wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The two will wed on Friday, May 29 at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace in London. Their reception will be in Buckingham Palace’s gardens.

The Palace’s statement, via Hello!, reads: “The wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29th May 2020. The couple became engaged in Italy in September 2019. Her Majesty the Queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace. The ceremony will be followed by a private reception, given by the Queen, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.”

As Hello! pointed out, this will be the first royal wedding since Kate Middleton and Prince William’s in 2011 to have a reception at Buckingham Palace.

Beatrice’s wedding will be a much more low-key affair than her sister Princess Eugenie’s big royal wedding in Windsor. The Daily Mail’s royal reporter Rebecca English reports the wedding will not be televised, and there’s no plans to ever show it. She also reports that Beatrice’s father Prince Andrew, who has been under heavy scrutiny for his close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, will be giving her away—perhaps one of the reasons Beatrice’s wedding will be more private.

It’s unclear at this point whether or not Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will attend, though it’s likely most senior royal family members will be at the wedding. Details about guests beyond that—including celebrities—have not been released yet.
