Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are quietly beginning their professional lives outside of the royal family in the United States. The couple did their first engagement in the U.S. in Miami last week. Now, Today is reporting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a secret visit to Stanford University on the West Coast on Tuesday.
A palace source told the outlet that the two “attend[ed] a brainstorming session over several hours with professors and academics” at the college on Tuesday to “help them with their ongoing work to establish a new charitable organization.” The two flew commercial from Canada, Today added, and at the university, the couple was greeted by Marc Tessier-Lavigne, the university’s president.
Meghan and Harry have not shared anything publicly about the meeting. The couple’s visit to California comes amid reports that the two are looking for a summer home in Los Angeles in the state. Meghan grew up in the southern California city.
A source explained to E! earlier this month that Meghan and Harry “have started to look at homes online and are in the process of interviewing security teams. They are getting their ducks in a row and seeing if it’s logistically possible. They’ve reached out to people in L.A. and would like to assemble a team of locals.”
The Duchess of Sussex, the source added, is “is hoping to find something that will fit their needs,” She specifically wants a property that would allow her “to do meetings at the house and also be able to host friends and entertain. Those are two things that are important to her.”
