Lizzo is sharing the spotlight.
Last night, the "Juice" singer took home the Champion award at the People’s Choice Awards and used her moment to shine a light on 17 female activists.
"So, I’m going to be honest. When I first heard about this award, I was on the fence about whether I should accept. Because if I’m the people’s champ, I don’t need a trophy for championing people. You know what I’m saying?" Lizzo told the audience at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

"I’m here tonight because to be an icon isn’t about how long you’ve had your platform. Being an icon is what you do with that platform," she said. "And ever since the beginning of my career, I have used my platform to amplify marginalized voices. So, tonight I am sharing this honor. Make some noise for the people, y’all."
As the women joined her onstage, Lizzo explained, "These are all activists and people that I think deserve the spotlight. Make some noise for them right now."
The singer was sweetly introduced and handed her award by her mother, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, who praised Lizzo for being a "champion of others."

For the occasion, the performer wore a cobalt blue gown with a colorful flower print by Alexander McQueen and bright blue boot heels. She accessorized with chunky gold jewelry, including a chain necklace, matching earrings, and various bracelets. She posed happily with her golden award after the show.
