Award season got a dose of royalty tonight, with Kate Middleton and Prince William attending the BAFTAs in London. The Duchess of Cambridge followed the night’s sustainability dress code, rewearing a white and gold Alexander McQueen dress. She wore her hair up. She originally wore the dress in 2012.
A spokesperson for BAFTAs explained to Harper’s Bazaar UK why all guests, including Kate and William, are being asked to rewear something they own to the ceremony. “Sustainability is very important to BAFTA, and we’re doing more than ever before,” the spokesperson said. “The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, BAFTA is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible.”
Kate and William last attended the BAFTAs in 2019. Kate wore a white asymmetrical dress by Alexander McQueen while William was in a black tie suit.
Kate and William’s last joint event was earlier this week. The two attended the UK Holocaust Memorial Ceremony on Monday in London. The Duchess of Cambridge rewore a previous outfit there too, her Catherine Walker gray dress coat that she debuted last year during a solo engagement with Queen Elizabeth II.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be out again next week in “the Mumbles and Port Talbot on Tuesday 4th February to visit organizations and businesses at the heart of the local communities,” Kensington Palace tweeted.
