Jennifer Lopez Says Her Wedding to Alex Rodriguez Is on Hold Because of COVID-19

There won’t be a Zoom wedding for Jennifer Lopez. The singer was interviewed by Ellen DeGeneres remotely this week and was asked directly about how the pandemic has affected her and her fiancé Alex Rodriguez’s wedding plans. The ceremony won’t be happening during the outbreak, J.Lo made clear.

The pandemic “did affect [our wedding plans] a little bit,” she started. “So, we will see what happens now. Honestly, I really don’t know what’s going to happen now as far as dates or anything like that. We’re just kind of in a holding pattern like the rest of the world. So, again, it’s something we’re just going to have to wait and see in a few months how this all pans out.”

Lopez and Rodriguez got engaged last March. Lopez spoke to Oprah at the end of February about why the two aren’t in any rush to walk down the aisle, even a year after they got engaged and before the coronavirus pandemic forced much of the country into quarantine.

“I said, ‘If we’re going to be together for the rest of our lives, what is the rush?,'” Lopez started. “If that’s what we’re really going to do, if we’re really going to be partners, if we’re really going to try to build something together that we both never had or never felt like we had, which is a family with a husband and a wife, and a mother and father, and we embrace all our children. We show them it’s something that we didn’t have.”

Lopez initially wanted to get married quickly. “It’s so funny because when we first got engaged, I was like, ‘Oh, we’re going to get married in a couple of months,'” she said. “Like your old thinking comes right back, like all that hopeless romantic that made me get married three times.”
