Well, it happened: The Golden Globes publicly reunited exes-turned-friends Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt at one of the after parties. The two were both nominees tonight and did interact briefly at the CAA after party.
A source spoke to E! about it, stressing it was not a long conversation, and the two spent their night primarily with other people. No photos of the moment were taken, unfortunately for everyone.
“They said hello very quickly,” a source said. “Jen arrived after Brad. It was brief, but [they] were very cordial and friendly and seemed happy to be there. They approached each other once they saw each other inside and looked happy as they started to hug and say hello. Jen whispered something to Brad, but it wasn’t in an affectionate way. They both didn’t seem like they wanted to make a big deal about being together in the same room although it was a private party. They were trying to be low-key. Brad left shortly after and didn’t stay at the party long.”
Pitt spoke on the Golden Globes red carpet about how down he was to see Aniston and take that photo with her the world wants. “I’ll run into Jen, she’s a good friend,” he said, making a little joke to Entertainment Tonight about everyone’s thirst for the moment. “The second most important reunion of her year? I understand,” he added, clarifying, “That was a play on Friends. They were saying that.” (Pitt was referring to reports that the Friends cast is in talk to do a reunion special on HBO Max.)
Aniston and Pitt’s after party reunion comes after Pitt was seen attending Aniston’s intimate holiday party last month. Entertainment Tonight was told by a source on December 16 that “Brad Pitt arrived at Jennifer Aniston’s holiday party a little after 7 P.M. on Saturday. He was among the first to arrive and the second to last guest to leave around 11 P.M. He was dressed casually in a dark bomber jacket with a cap on. He arrived with his longtime security guard who waited for him with his car and saw him out.”
It also comes after Us Weekly ran a report about what their relationship is like during Christmas. Apparently, there may still be a little spark between the couple, who were married from 2000 to 2005 and are both publicly single.
“Brad and Jen have a wonderful connection that might seem flirtatious at times,” a source told the outlet. “They dig each other’s sense of humor and have an infectious energy when they’re together, but they insist things are purely platonic and nothing more than that.”
