The dust has settled on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s surprise announcement that they’re stepping back from their senior royal family roles…and they’ve begun their much more private new life in Canada. People got some intel from people close to them on how things have been going for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they adjust to their new normal.
They really love it…and they’re really trying to keep their day-to-day out of the press. An insider told People that Meghan is deliberately keeping her circle of friends tight. “She’s keeping a low profile while things settle down,” the source said.
But a friend told the outlet that all is well on Vancouver Island, where they’re staying now. “They both love to be outside and have been loving it there,” the friend said.
“They are enjoying living a quiet life,” the source continued. “They go for long walks, they do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They are real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs.”
They aren’t upset about losing the use of their HRH titles, by the way—one of the conditions for their stepping down from royal duties. “Harry doesn’t care about the titles,” a source said in the two’s circle. “It doesn’t interest him; it never has.”
Honestly, they’re just happy the drama is over, a friend said: “This decision [to leave] had been weighing on them for a long time, and they are relieved to have it done. A weight has been lifted off their shoulders.”
