Joe Alwyn has never appeared on Taylor Swift’s Instagram or alongside her on a red carpet. But just because they aren’t overtly flaunting their relationship doesn’t mean it isn’t very real and kind of public. Alwyn was at Swift’s Cats premiere last night. The two were photographed together, holding hands…on their way out of the theater. It was a rare PDA sighting for the couple, who were last photographed out together in New York City this October after Swift performed on SNL.
Twitter users also reported Alwyn was in the theater with Swift at the premiere. He just didn’t walk the carpet or engage with the press there. They did walk together to the theater:

Back in January, he explained to The Journal that no one should find it weird that he has chosen to keep his relationship with an A-list American singer as under the wraps as possible. “I don’t think anyone you meet on the streets would just spill their guts out to you, therefore why should I?” Alwyn said. “And then that is defined as being ‘strangely private’. Fine. But I don’t think it is. I think it’s normal.”
Okay, Joe. Swift explained a little more gently in her The Guardian profile why she has chosen not to talk about her boyfriend of three years in interviews. “I’ve learned that if I do, people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion,” she said with a laugh. “If you and I were having a glass of wine right now, we’d be talking about it—but it’s just that it goes out into the world. That’s where the boundary is, and that’s where my life has become manageable. I really want to keep it feeling manageable.”
