Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade attempted to resurrect her YouTube career in December, months after news broke that her mother and father allegedly paid $500,000 to guarantee her and her sister Bella’s admission to USC by making it appear the girls were rowing team recruits.
It’s now February, and Olivia hasn’t posted anything in two months. According to Us Weekly, there’s a reason she has given up on resuming her beauty vlogging career for the moment: She really, really wants to talk about the scandal and tell her side of the story, but she can’t as long as the case is ongoing, a source explained.
“Olivia is in a strange place right now, she’s mentally ready to put herself out there, but she also knows that all of her past issues will be front and center again very soon,” the source said. “She’s trying to put on a brave face and go out and get back to her more normal routine, but she’s very upset that she can’t explain her side of the story without it impacting the case.”
A second source echoed the first’s claims, reiterating that Olivia really wants the cheating scandal to be over. “She feels like she spent time away from being in the limelight for a long time and now she’s ready to get back out there,” the second source said. “She wants to be back in her normal routine of hanging out with friends and doing things she enjoys and move forward from this whole ordeal. She’s extremely pleasant, polite and sweet to new people she meets and definitely wants to make a good impression on them.”
Olivia’s parents were charged with money laundering, bribery, and conspiracy to commit mail fraud; they pled not guilty on all charges. They are due to contest the charges in court later this year and face a maximum penalty of up to 60 years in prison.
Olivia publicly acknowledged that there’s limits to what she can say on camera until the trial is over. In her first YouTube video back, the former USC student said that “there’s no point in me just talking for 10 minutes to the camera about how I wish I could say something when I really can’t so I’m going to leave it at that.”
She added, “I know that it’s something that needs to be addressed.”
“Ah, it’s so hard because I’m not trying to like, make this about me or like how I’ve been because that’s not the point of this, though I’m terrified to make this video and to come back,” she said at the end of her video. “I know that I also want to start taking smaller steps in the right direction for people who have been DMing and asking me. The moral of the story is I’ve missed you guys so much, and I’m just really excited to start filming again and to start uploading, and I really help you enjoy the vlog.”
